Cubano Adventure Day 1: Hola to Fun in the Sun!!!

There are few things that get me up before 3:30 AM.  Luckily, a bikini clad, white sand each, no bra, pina colada filled week of fun in the sun is one of them.

Pro Traveller Tip #1: Order your cab the night before an early morning trip. You will invariably find yourself scrambling at the last minute, thinking you’ll call the cab when you’re ready, find yourself running late anyway, and then freaking out when the cab isn’t going to be at your doorstep for another 15 minutes.  This is not the right way to start a vacation.

Pro Traveller Tip #2: Sleep in your clothes, so you can roll out of bed at 3:20 and continue rolling directly in to your 3:30 cab without actually waking up.

Some of us may have kept sleeping the entire way…
Lucky Traveller Win: Don’t pay for advanced seat selection.  Show up early and get offered the premium seats with extra stuff for the same price.  Buy them and chill with extra leg room and drinks.

We take off on time (YAY for Sunwing!), land safely, and are on route to the hotel, cervezas in hand by 10:30.  The resort is half empty so our rooms are ready when we arrive.  By noon we are on the beach walking around #LikeABoss with our piña coladas and a sky full of sunshine.

Best last minute idea… EVER.

We spent the entire afternoon frolicking in the water and recapturing our love before finally heading in for a pre-dinner nap.

They always say, ‘You don’t come to Cuba for the food”.  While normally I could have agreed, our resort Memories Caribe Cayo Coco is changing the game. Two meals in, this is literally the best food I have had on ANY resort.  Period.

For lunch I had a heaping plate of fried clams and garlic shrimp seasoned to perfection and gorged myself on fresh papaya and guavas.

Dinner was another fresh seafood fiesta: Sea bass, tilapia, razor clams, huge (life preserver sized) calamari, muscles, shrimps and the cutest little baby octopi – all freshly laid out to choose from.  I basically just said, “Si, por favor” (Yes please!!) and stuffed my face with anything that came from the ocean.

Fed, beached, and fully relaxed, we were asleep before our heads hit the pillow.
